Overview
The 'Learner Portraits' project originated in our wish to see that's learners' own voices were present in our research on language learning, immigration, and identity. This area gives more details of the project's origins and goals.

Themes
Here you can find the main themes that emerged from the 14 learners' classroom interaction and in-home interviews as they spoke about their changing identities as immigrant-learners in Portland, Oregon, USA.

Acknowledgments
Learner Portraits
Here you can find links to the report of each learner in the project.

Immigrant Learner Identity - Theory
This link outlines previous research on language learning and identity and the theoretical concepts which resonate with our own findings.

Project Methods
This section reports on the research methods we used to uncover the reflexive nature of language learning, immigration, and identity.
