Valerio - Family

As the father of two young children, family issues are an important aspect of Valerio's immigrant-learner identity. Most importantly, it is because of his family (his wife and children, specifically) that he came to the U.S. He discusses that here in his interview from March, 2006.

IR:And why did you come here?

Valerio:Because of my wife.

IR:Ah you got married?

Valerio:We got married in Mexico, and she was going to have her first baby and I told her, if you arrange my visa, I'll go to the United States.

IR:Yeah.

Valerio:So two weeks before she was going to have the baby, here we were! So that's why we're here. But also for the opportunities for my child, because as you know, you just live for the day, so that's why.

IR:For the future?

Valerio:For the future. For their future. For me, not so much, but for them.
